Go Hawks...

Yup yup, back to school. I have wanted to post pictures, but I don't have much internet access. So I decided to wait on pictures. But hey, you shouldn't have to suffer (my avid readers, all 2 of you, I'm sure) so I'm going to update anyway, with pictures to follow.

I went camping during my last week of summer. It was amazing. My favorite peoples were pretty much all there. Marlee came for one day, but we had more fun that day-or night, rather- than the whole rest of the week! Dean was there, which is good. I love my big bro...and my sister Berea was there the whole time too. :) And then my Em Sanders and Kolbo kicked it with us for a day. We boated, set up tents, cooked out, got leaked on in tents, bought new tents, swam, and genereally had a blast. I got 64 bug bites total.

Then I came to Norfolk. I think I have a job possibly, at Culver's. And then I am a work study for Dr. Boullion again. She's my caring mama teacher. I also have 3 non-music classes. They are: Geography, History, and Biology. Strangely enough, Biology is turning out to be my favorite subject. It's the teacher, Mr. Batt, who is hilarious. He likes to show us the most disgusting pictures he can find. He calls males 'egg chasers' cause of their testosterone! hehe.

So, my biggest change at school...the beds are 6 feet off the floor. No, I'm not exaggerating. I measured. So I have a small panic attack almost every time I roll over. But it leaves more space on the floor for my desk and dresser and crap. :) I finally got the roomate I tried to room with for 3 semesters. And we are having fun hanging out all the time. And did I mention Berea is in the dorms too? Haha Bennetts are ruling NECC!!!

I have decided to get involved in extracurriculers so I have a little more of a life. Yes that's right, I felt like I had no life outside of class. So I am now on the Student Activities Council. That's fun. We have been busy with welcome back parties. My favorite was Cosmic Bingo!!! And then I also am back in Taekwondo. There is something very satisfying in being able to beat people up. haha! I was not so thrilled to find myself growing more stiff and sore all day yesterday. I could hardly move. I guess I was out of shape! Now I'm going back tonight, so I can punish my body a little more for the weekend.

That's all for now! L8r, minions...

...Pick the Most Believable... I Did

I was excited to compare these, but I don't know many people who would agree with me, so I posted it here instead of on Facebook.

Quote #1:
"The Bible is unique in preparation, circulation, translation, and preservation. The Bible was written over a period of 1,500 years by a great variety of men who were inspired of God. From the king of Babylon writing in Chaldean to the humble prophet of Samaria; from an educated doctor writing in Greek to the beautiful lyrics composed by a Hebrew shepherd in the field; from a statesman born in ancient Egypt to a fisherman of the Roman era; it is difficult to conceive of a more diverse group! Writing any volume of such length and being in compete harmony would indeed be a wonder, much less dealing with a topic so controversial as religion. No book in the history of the world has been as widely circulated as the scripture. Every year it outsells all of the top best-sellers and it has now been translated into over 1,200 different languages."
-Josh McDowell, Evidence That Demands A Verdict

Quote #2
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters."
It's an oral history. It was passed down, word-of-mouth, father to son, from Adam to Seth, from Seth to Enos, from Enos to Cainan, for 40 generations, a growing, changing, story, it was handed down, word-of-mouth, father to son. Until Moses finally gets it down on lambskin. But lambskins wear out, and need to be recopied. Copies of copies of copies of copies of copies of copies of copies of an oral history passed down through 40 generations.
From Hebrew it's translated into Arabic, from Arabic to Latin, from Latin to Greek, from Greek to Russian, from Russian to German, from German to an old form of English that you could not read. Through 400 years of evolution of the English language to the book we have today, which is: a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of an oral history passed down through 40 generations.
You can't put a grocery list through that many translations, copies, and re-telling, and not expect to have some big changes in the dinner menu when the kids make it back from Kroger's.
And yet people are killing each other over this written word. "

Yesterday...

So I'm pretty sure yesterday was one of the best days I've had all summer. It started off being my first day off the job, so I slept in till ten, which was fun in and of itself. And then I went upstairs and read a book...all the way through, as Aaron played video games. That was just the beginning!

By afternoon, we were ready to move around, so we went scrounging for cake mix. Angel food cake...that's always a challenge. At least, I made it once before, and it was kind of a flop. So I attempted again, careful to follow directions exactly, and it came out looking PERFECT!!! SO good when we added whipped (HWIPPED) cream and strawberries.

Next, we took off for the lake, just to see if the site we want for next week has bathrooms nearby. Sorry to say we never got that done. We saw the beautiful, calm water, and we had to go in. And then we were in the lake for nearly 2 hours! Aaron was having a blast digging holes with his feet (I know, he's odd) and I was working on getting comfortable in deep water. Then we started this activity where Aaron sank to the bottom of the lake, and I climbed on his shoulders. Then he would shoot up out of the water, and I would (attempt to) stand up and cannonball into the water. We probably looked funny, but it was entertaining.

Once we got out of the lake, it was six thirty and we were hungry. So we raced home to change. I got to wear a lovely new dress mom gave me (Thanks mom!). We then went to a Chinese buffet to eat a scrumptious supper. After which we went to the store and got bread, went to another, smaller pond in town, and fed the little ducks. One duck had 12 ducklings and a huge goose following her everywhere.

Sounds great, huh? That was my near perfect day. Unfortunately evening brought some very frustrating moments. I feel kind of like that's a repeating theme in my life-every good day ends badly. However, I'm feeling mush better reflecting on how good yesterDAY was. Hope we can have a few more before summer ends!!! Next time I'll get pictures, I promise.

Weight Loss Plan

A man calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.

The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck.

She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company.

The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."

Without a second thought, he takes off after her.

A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.

The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens.

On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program.

The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning and beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life.

She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me."

Well, he's out the door after her like a shot.

This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck.

So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.

Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised.

He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program.

"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program."

"Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."

The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads,"If I catch you, you are mine!!!"

He lost 63 pounds that week.

What my Sister Thought...

"think the pic you put up of me for the world to see is the worsed pic ever taken of me lol"

That was all there was to say... Guess I really am a sentimental fool of a sister. I'd give up now, but I have to endure this little kid at school all next year, so I'd better just suck it up, harden myself, and get ready for one hell of a year trying to communicate with the heartless kid I poured myself into...
Talk about a crappy life!

For my Sister...

You build unbreakable walls
So no one can ever hurt you
But I run hard into the walls you use to hide
You run away
So far away that I can't find you
So scared of everyone you leave them all outside
Cold and alone

You push away the people
Who get too close for comfort
And then you stab them if they try to be your friend
Trying to take control
Of every relationship you encounter
And doing nothing but hurting us in the end
Like we're decoys

But maybe you should trust
The friend you've known forever
Might be the one to help your dreams come true
If that friend is your sister
And she's been with you through life
Never backing out or letting go of you
Always holding on

I know what you've been through
Remember I was there as well
I shared the life that tore you up so bad
I know just what your feeling
And I know you don't want help
But I can't stop remembering what we had
As a Team

When we shared everything
It helped us both to cope
You and I, we pulled through a lot together
You say you want to be alone
But it's hurting you as well as me
I thought we would be inseperable forever
We were meant to be

And every time I run to you
And hit your wall of doubt
I hear you cry and I can't hide the pain
So why not let me in a little?
Give 'us' a chance to win
Just trust me and we could be best friends again...
The good life=together.

A Sombre Reminder...

Summer 2009 is almost over. This was emphasized today by my last day of work. I was extremely grateful to hang up my phone, give away my ear muffs, and be gone of the dreaded place. Of course I'll dearly miss my new-found friends and coworkers. The management I worked under happened to be the best I have ever been employed for.

That being said, I went home and did a little 'I am done with work' dance. CRT happened to be the most dreadful job I've ever had. It paid well, had great hours, and kept me cool during the hot summer days. But I guess I'm just not cut out to argue with strangers and remind them how fragile life is, and how they need to pay out the ass to protect themselves in this day and age.

And so now I have my short respite before I return to the flurry and the chaos that is school. I am not looking forward to some things, like getting along with difficult people and questioning my intentions with Aaron. But for the most part I'm going to love the classes, easy schedule, and the glamour of show choir.

Cheers to being unemployed and rich!!!
